Scheduling Your Tour

Farm tours typically run 50–60 minutes, and sometimes longer for larger groups.

Tours are scheduled based on staff availability. We ask for at least 24 hours' advance notice whenever possible.

Depending on the day of the week and farm workload, we can sometimes accommodate shorter-notice requests — just ask.

For large groups, charter tours, or special programming (cooking classes, farm-to-table meals, team-building events), please contact us well in advance to discuss your needs.

Please contact us before your visit to confirm availability.

Best Time to Visit

Baby Animals — Lambs and goat kids are typically born in May. Late May and early June are the best times to see the new arrivals.

Gardens in full production — Our outdoor gardens are at their peak from June through September.

Year-round tours — We offer tours throughout the year. Winter and early spring visits offer a different but equally interesting perspective on farm life.

What to Wear & Bring

• Our farm is often windy — dress in layers and plan for wind.

• After rain, wear sturdy boots (mud boots or hiking boots). The tour route crosses areas of dirt, grass, and gravel.

• Dress appropriately for the temperature and season.

• Bring a water bottle.

• On sunny days, bring a hat and sunscreen.

• Mosquitoes can be active in summer — consider repellent and/or long sleeves.

What NOT to Bring

Please do not bring pets. Our livestock guardian dogs are working animals and will not tolerate other animals on the farm.

Physical Accessibility

The farm tour route covers approximately 1,100 feet over uneven terrain, including dirt, grass, and gravel, with one small, gentle hill. The route is not fully wheelchair accessible due to uneven ground. However, we do allow a personal vehicle to be used along the tour route if needed. Please contact us in advance if accessibility accommodations are required.

Food Safety (FSMA)

Bear Butte Gardens follows FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) regulations, which means some areas of the farm have restricted visitor access. All visitors will be asked to wash their hands before and after the tour. Guests will not be permitted to enter gardens or handle farm products. These precautions protect against biological contaminants, including E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Salmonella, and reflect our commitment to food safety at every level of our operation.

Restrooms

One public restroom is available in the Farm Stand building. Please plan accordingly, especially for larger groups.
